Ump gets overheated in Yankee game
Home-plate umpire Jerry Layne didn't have a very good day at the Stadium today.With a sudden change in temperature,along with getting smacked right in the center of his face mask with a foul ball, he might have been thinking of a better way to spend his Saturday afternoon. Layne appeared to be overheated anyway,but the ball in the face was a sign for him to leave to a cooler,safer place.He left in the third inning and caused a long delay in the game.But let's hope that he's o.k. We don't like to see anyone get hurt.The Yankees went on to beat the Kansas City Royals 12-11. They pounded out 19 hits and the win puts them at 31-31 on the year.They are still in lastplace but the American League East is a tough division.
