April 1st is the day for pratical jokes but some MLB teams did not enjoy the news of April Fool's Day.
The New York Mets SS Jose Reyes will start the season on the DL. He has missed 3 weeks of Spring training due to a thyroid issue.
The Phillies annouced that SP Joe Blanton is headed to the DL with a oblique strain that will need 3-6 weeks to heal. The Phillies also placed closer Brad Lidge and RP J.C Romero on the DL both could be activated by April 10.
The Mets Francisco Rodriquez leaves the team for personal reasons but is expected back by the opener.
The Baltimore Orioles have acquired INF Julio Lugo and cash for a player to be named later.
Rangers have claimed 1B Ryan Garko off waivers from the Mariners. Garko had 13 HR and 51 RBIs in 2009.
