Sorry Angeles Pineiro not the answer
The Angels reached an agreement with free agent right-hander Joel Pineiro on a two-year deal worth $16 million.
The move comes somewhat as a surprise, as earlier reports had the Mets and Dodgers as the front-runners for the Pineiro's services.
Pineiro, who went 15-12 with a 3.49 ERA in 32 starts with the Cardinals in 2009.
The 10-year veteran has a career 87-79 record with a 4.39 ERA in 285 games with the Mariners, Red Sox and Cardinals.
The Angels really blew this one. They are not going to be able to compete with the big boys by picking up a 8-7 career guy. The only good thing is he will be the fifth starter and will not get that many starts.
The key to a long run by the Angels is going to be adding some more power and a quality bat that can hit for average.
