No more Julio down in the ball yard

May 4th 2008 19:57
Way back when that Paul Simon song came out with the classic line, about Julio in the schoolyard, one might have thought he was singing about Julio Franco.Perhaps he was, seeing that Simon does have a passion for baseball.
At age 49, Julio Franco has decided to call it a day.The 49 year old leaves the game with 23 years of experience in the big leagues. He holds the major league record for the oldest player to hit a home run.
Franco did play last year, spending 55 games with the Mets, and another 40 games with the Atlanta Braves while batting .222, with one homerun and 16 RBI in 90 at bats.

Julio leaves with a lifetime .298 average, 2,586 hits and 173 home runs with eight teams,
See if you can name the other six teams??
