Mets woes continue

mets baseball is good

The New York Mets are in the midst of a five game losing streak. They had the lead in last nights game against the Arizona Diamond backs, but blew it.Maybe it's because the heat wave that has been hovering around the New York area the past few days. Last night it finally broke, and the sky turned black as a thunder and lightening storm pulled into Shea, causing an hour rain delay.I guess it is safe to say that the Mets haven't been getting much help from their bullpen, but when the rain came Tuesday night, pitcher Scott Schoenwise was right there along side the ground crew holding down the tarp to the field as the heavy wind tore through the stadium.

That was a nice gesture from the Mets reliever. But these days, the only gesture the Mets bullpen has seen is

And to make things worse,The D-backs are sending Brandon Webb, who leads the Majors with 11 wins to the hill tonight. Webb likes pitching at Shea,he says he thrives on the rowdy crowd. He is 2-1 at Shea, with a .031 ERA over four starts. He made his big league start there in 2003.

Yikes! The Mets are only 3 games under 500 and 7.5 games behind the first place Phillies. That's isn't too bad, considering everything that has gone on so far this year, but I would hold off on looking to buy any playoff tickets!
The Mets left eight men on base last night and the bullpen gave up four runs as Arizona , the National Leagues best team came to town to start a three game series. The D-backs have only won 5 of their last 10 games, and Mets manager Willie Randolph hopes he has caught the snakes in a slump."Teams go up and down, like they have, like the Diamondbacks have, like Seattle," Randolph said before Tuesday's game. "The Phillies are playing great right now, but I doubt they will play like that all year. Maybe our time is coming. Then, we'll all feel better about the team, and everybody will be happy."

mr.met prays baseball is good

The Mets start Mike Pelfrey tonight.Pelfrey,is 2-6 on the year with a 4.65 ERA.

This day in Mets history ...
June 11, 1985, is an ominous day for New York pitching, as the Mets allowed the most hits and earned runs in team history. In a game at Philadelphia, the Mets surrendered 24 earned runs on 27 hits. And on June 11, 1967, New York's arms gave up a club-record seven home runs to Chicago.

History has a way of repeating itself.
