Van Every one loves Manny
I am sure that we all have heard about the catch that Manny Ramirez made.I have yet to see the video, but a friend of mine had told me all about it.It is good to have friends that like baseball. They can be like a walking scoreboard, even provide highlights if they are passionate about the game.
Denise came out of her office and said"Guess what Manny just did"? She then went on to explain,in great detail the miraculous catch, and the high five, and then the throw to fiirst base to nab Aubrey Huff. There even was a little bit of talk about Jonathan Van Every, the eight year minor league veteran that they just called up, who finally got his first major league hit,and how Red Sox head trainer,Paul Lessard got the ball for him.
As Denise finished her animated description of the play and started walking back to her office,I asked her what the score was.She looked at me and said,3-2,and walked away.I caught up with her and asked who's winning? She looked at me with surprise and said ,the team that has 3!
I read somewhere how a writer exclaimed that Manny should get a gold glove this year just on that play alone. But there does seem to be a population of baseball folk that are just waiting for the opportunity to tear Manny to shreds on his defense. We hear it every year just around playoff time how Manny's fielding is such a liability to the team. The team that has won the World Series twice the last four years It would be interesting to see just how many games his defense has cost the Red Sox .Although just about every die hard Sox fan holds their breath when there is a fly ball hit Manny's way,but Manny is Manny, what else is there to say?
I only found out who had won the game about an hour ago.The Orioles won it,6-3, on a grand slam by Jay Payton( THE Jay Payton)?
I still have one question concerning the score again,
How did they officially end up scoring that play by Ramirez?............... 7-high 5-3?
