Giants vs Dodgers headlines Opening Day in MLB
March 30th 2011 14:43
Well Opening Day is finally here for Major League Baseball. Six games will kick off the action on Thursday highlighted by a NL West showdown between San Francisco and Los Angeles.
To start things off Atlanta will travel to Washington to meet the Nationals. Derek Lowe will battle Livan Hernandez. Also, playing at 1:05 ET will be a great AL match up between the Detroit Tigers and the New York Yankees. This pitching match-up is the best of the day with Justin Verlander battling C.C. Sabathia.
At 2:10 ET The Milwaukee Brewers will meet the Cincinnati Reds in a NL Central battle. Yovani Gallardo will face Edison Volquez.
Around 4pm ET we will have two battle as the Los Angeles Angels will meet the Kansas City Royals and the San Diego Padres meet St Louis. Jered Weaver will be on the mound for the Angels facing Luke Hochevar. Tim Stauffer will lead the Padres against Chris Carpenter.
At 8pm ET Tim Lincecum and the World Series Champions Giants will battle Clayton Kershaw and the Los Angeles Dodgers.
ESPN will cover the Tigers vs Yankees, Cardinals vs Padres and Giants vs Dodgers matchups.
It's hard to pick games this early in the season but what the heck. I see Atlanta, San Francisco and Los Angeles Angeles getting it done on the road as New York, Cincinnati and St. Louis win at home.
