August 11th 2011 10:58

The New York Yankees used power to move within 1.5 games of Boston. The Yankees defeated Los Angeles 9-3 behind Curtis Granderson two homeruns. Robinson Cano also Homered. The Yankees had nine hits total.

Tampa Bay pounded out 12 hits and scored five times in the bottom of ninth inning to defeat Kansas City 8-7. The Rays hoping for a miracle moved to within 10 games of first place Boston.

Toronto rode the grand slam from Brett Lawrie to a 8-4 win against Oakland.

Baltimore defeated Chicago 6-4 in 10. Nolan Reimold hits a walkoff two run homer.

Boston's Jon Lester picked up his sixth lose even with Ortiz going long and the Red Sox getting eight hits on the day. Nine Left on base was the killer for them.

All the teams will play on Thursday except Boston. So the Yankees can pull within one game.
