All work and no play on the road

Once or twice a month I visit branch offices in Los Angeles and San Diego. Typically I'll only fly out for the day, but we have corporate housing in San Diego for the occasions that require an overnight stay. The rooms are in Mission Valley, and I usually stop at Bing Crosby's for dinner because they have live music. It's my once chance to relax after spending all morning at the airport and on the plane, worrying about whether or not I turned on the ADT security alarm before leaving home, and spending all afternoon in meetings.
The next morning it's back to work, reviewing accounts and meeting with new business leads. I'd like to get out and see more of the city while I'm there, but there's always too much work and not enough energy left when the day is done. The company has a private box at Qualcomm stadium and on a few visits I've been there with our highest profile clients, but even though I'm out of the office it's still work. Does anyone else have a chronic lack of time and energy while travelling, or is it just me? I'd love for my trips to be more exciting, but most of the time it's all work and no play.
